VIRTUAL BRAND SESSIONS
These lovely ladies agreed to trial out a new idea that some of us photographers started talking about. This is Virtual Brand Photography. It's a simple concept and works really well. It will help give a month's worth of social media contents and keep you visible.
So how does it work?
All you need is your phone, an up to date operating system, good wifi connection and good lighting. You don't need to leave your home. I will contact you either through Zoom or FaceTime, depending on what smart phone you have. Then we can talk about how you want to show your future clients who you are and what you do by taking a series of quick simple shots. I will process the images very quickly and send them via my gallery portal. The whole session lasts no more than 30 minutes and you will receive at least 30 images if not a little more.
This month, I am offering two packages:
£75 for a 30 minute virtual shoot only in which 20% will go to NHS Charities.
£345 for a 3 hour in person brand shoot and also have a complimentary virtual shoot as well. You will receive over a 100+ images including the images from the virtual session. Plus if you book this month, the offer is valid for up to 12 months.

NEWBORN AND FAMILY SESSIONS
While many people are slowly going back to work and opening up shop on 15th June, I have made the decision to delay newborn sessions until it is absolutely safe to do so. My work is carried out in my home in the front room and while I have always maintained a clean and tidy environment, I feel there is more to do to make sure everything is safe and comfortable for both parents and babies and children. I apologise if this is not the news you want to hear but you and your baby's health is my main concern and want to also keep my family healthy too.
However, this doesn't stop me from carrying out my work. I am trialling out virtual family and newborn sessions just like the brand shoot but you will also receive a voucher to redeem for a later date such as a milestone birthday. The cost of the session is £40 and you will receive at least 10 images. It's a half hour session just like as above.
I am looking for at least two families who have recently had a baby since May 20th 2020 to have a try at the session. You will still get to have a full in person session at a later date. The latter session needs to be taken before November 30th*.
Please contact me if you are interested.
During this month, I am still continuing to offer doorstep photo shoots. The cost is £20 and all proceeds will go to The Dream Factory. A local charity I help volunteer who is desperate for funds due to Covid 19 cancelling several of their major charity events for this year. Click on their link to find out more about this wonderful charity. Please help if you can and this is a great way to make memories this rather weird and incredible moment in time.
Stay safe, keep healthy and good luck to all those going back to school and back to work. Thanks to all those who have been so supportive these past few weeks. Please do contact me if you wish to book for sessions in the future that I may not have already mentioned. Have a great month.
When I can't meet my clients, what can I do?
Unfortunately for me I can't meet my clients face to face but I am happy to talk to them and book sessions for when we can go back to normal. Instead I have embraced the social distancing by going on my daily walks. I have been using my phone and my DSLR for taking photos and enjoying my local surroundings.
The weather has been amazing these past few weeks. I even have a tan that would make me look like I went away to Greece for two weeks! My happy place is in the corner of my garden where I can work and plan my business. I have been using my phone to take some stock images. Can you guess which images are taken with phone and which are with my DSLR?
Most of my work is now available for social media posts so let me know if you would like to book me for a stock photo shoot for your business. If you are struggling to find the right contents for your online presence then book a 121 call and we can talk about your brand, your colour schemes and how we can implement some images for you to use straight away. There is a special price of £195 for 10 images. If you go on to book a full brand shoot by adding more images and having headshots, I am able to deduct the price and you will receive many more images.
What have you been doing to help with your business?
Being at home with your family has its good points and its not so good points. The main thing is we are safe at home together in good health. For some it hasn't been so lucky and my heart goes out to those who are suffering and dealing with their loss.
Family time is important and for this I have set up a little group for parents with very young children and how to keep them amused in difficult times. We have some guest experts in the group so you can ask some questions that can you might not be able to get answers elsewhere.
For older children why not create a Time Capsule capturing this historic moment. Ask your parents for permission to use their phones and capture clapping hands for NHS, your rainbow poster, your front window of the teddy bear. You are allowed a daily walk so now is a good time to take photos of your local surroundings. Download the Time capsule here and build your memories.
As well as building your memories, I have a photo challenge group for all the family to take part and next month the theme is Food.
AWARENESS DAYS IN MAY
Time to Adjust
Who would have thought that this time last month we would all be facing a lockdown of some sort for the next few week?
For a small business like myself this has been hard as most of my work is face to face. I can't cuddle newborn babies and I can't get to meet interesting people who have their own small businesses themselves.
Everyone has mentioned that now is a time to use this time to update your website, write blogs and catch up on all the work you have put on hold. These have been steadily ticked off on my list but we're now in this for the long haul.
Fortunately for me I have older children who can take care of themselves so I don't have to sit with them and help them with their schoolwork. My eldest is at University and is now safely home and my youngest is all set with Google classroom and we just get daily updates of schoolwork to be completed which I trust she gets on with.
What to do next?
There will be a while before paid work starts. After consultations with some fantastic small businesses who were and are still offering a support network, I realised what I could you me skills for.
We are still working and updating our stock library of images. You will be able to use them for your social media contents. Look out for some spring images which you can download and use straight away. Other images we are adding; working from home, gardening, exercise, food & cleaning.
Stock Images coming soon.
For the family, there is an April challenge which kids and parents can participate on a daily basis following prompts set out each day. A fun and entertaining creative challenge that will get everyone to appreciate their surroundings nearby. Join the Facebook group here.

March is Women's History Month.
It starts on 1st March and ends 31st March. The 8th March is International Women's Day. This is a day to support women supporting other women.
The theme for 2020 for this month is raising awareness and empowerment. A celebration of women's achievement in a diverse society and being recognised equally.
There are lots of events around the country showing historical achievement made by ordinary women who are now extraordinary.
I have a special day to help celebrate Women in Business and all the amazing small business owners.
10th March I am hosting a Mini Personal Brand Photo session. This is a great opportunity to meet other businesses and have a photo shoot. You will be introduced to two lovely ladies one of whom is a make up artist and the other a fabulous stylist. Together we can help you relax and enjoy the day and more importantly the photo session. The actual photo shoot is 30 minutes and you receive 3 digital images. The event will take place in Epping and we have been invited to use the property of another extraordinary lady who is a VA. The whole event should be great fun and it is £175 for photo shoot, a makeover and lots of refreshments.

February is a funny month. For us in the North it's still Winter and if you live South it's still boiling hot Summer. It's the 2nd month of year and the shortest; but this year we add one more day which makes this year a Leap Year. Why do we have this every four years?
In a nutshell, it takes the Earth 365 and a quarter days to circle the sun, which is called a year. So every 4 years we need the extra day to stop the calendar from getting out of line with the sun. It actually takes 364 1/4 days for the sun to rotate the earth. So, every four years we throw in an extra day to make up those four quarter days. It actually takes the Earth 365.25 days to orbit the Sun, so an extra day is added every four years to compensate.
You would think this is a month for not a lot to happen but you would be surprised. There are lots of events especially if you have children as well. Here are some of the dates to look out for:
National Storytelling Week1st Feb to 8th Feb 2020
A week for the promotion of the oral tradition of storytelling, the very first way of communicating life experiences and the creative imagination.
Groundhog Day2nd Feb 2020
US holiday to celebrate the emergence of a Groundhog, which signifies when spring will arrive, apparently.
Safer Internet Day4th Feb 2020
A day to help raise awareness of online safety issues in your home, school, workplace or community, not just on Safer Internet Day but all year round.
World Nutella Day5th Feb 2020
A day dedicated to enjoyment of this most popular of chocolate and hazlenut spreads.
St. Valentine's Day14th Feb 2020
The annual celebration of love is the day when we take the opportunity to tell the people we love just how much they mean to us.
Pancake Day25th Feb 2020
Pancake Day or Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent begins, when people would traditionally use up all their fat and eggs by making pancakes.
There are loads more special days, for example Harry Potter Book night on 6th Feb, Charles Darwin day 12th Feb, Fair-trade Fortnight from 24th Feb and of course a chance for the ladies to propose on 29th Feb (although that does seem a little old fashioned now)
My special day is 26th February as it was the day my eldest daughter came into the world. She will be 19 and will be celebrating with University friends.
What happens when you have a baby born 29th February? Do you celebrate the birthday every year on either side of this date or do you go every 4 years and celebrate a 1st birthday the first leap year after it is born? I would love to hear from people who have this experience?
I'm feeling a little generous here, but if you have a baby born 29th February this year, I am offering a FREE mini newborn session!! All I need is proof of birth on this day.
In the meantime, I am doing my second mini newborn session this month and bookings are now open. One lucky family will also win a lovely Mummy's Notebook Journal for them to write and talk about their baby's first year.
If you have any other interesting facts about February, comment below as I would love to hear these. I'm off to find my frying pan and start practising my flip with the pancakes. And if you are celebrating St. Valentines Day, what are you going to do?
Whatever happens this month, stay warm (if in Northern Hemisphere) or stay cool (Southern Hemisphere) and enjoy as it is still the shortest month of the year and March is not far off.
10 Moment in the Last Decade
Can you believe we are now coming to the end of another decade and entering the third decade of this Century? As ever so much has happened and now is a time to reflect on ten things that have happened or changed during the last ten years.
What to Expect in 2020
You lay objet in a certain way and take photo from above giving a bird's eye view. The objects are are placed on a flat surface and so give the illusion of laying down flat.
It looks so easy but it needs to be super stylish
If this something you want to do yourself - great! Smartphones are amazing these days and with the right kind of lighting and positioning you can get some pretty cool results.
Here are my 5 tips of how to do flatlay photography using your phone.
What is special and how does it work for your brand/business?
Flatlay has become the most popular trend on Social Media this year. It gives an appealing visual look and shows off your brand. It's a convenient way to promote your business in a simple stylised way. It not just for social media as it can be used on website headers, landing pages, prints, banners or business cards.
To get inspiration on creativity, take a look obviously on Instagram but also Pinterest is brilliant ideas. These are my two favourite places to view that help me discuss and talk with my clients.
DSLR cameras vs Smartphones
Most people these days have smartphones. They're getting better and better every year. I love my iPhone 10X but I still feel with my DSLR (Nikon D750 & Sony A7mk3)I have so much more control. You can focus so much more comfortably than with the phone. Lighting is a great on phones as do adjust accordingly but with the controls on the DSLR you can override and adjust with more ease. Disadvantage with DSLR, the weight and bulk of shooting from above whereas with the phone it is simple, light and quick to use.
Whichever way you choose; bear in mind how you want to show off your brand your style. If choosing just for social media, then the phone is perfect. However, if you want to use for marketing purposes, such as banners, business cards and leaflets then DSLR is your go to and in the next few months, I will rolling out some flatlay images you can purchase for your own offline and online use which will save you time and frustration.
Meanwhile, if you feel you want to offer your products, a clean, trendy look and struggle with your ideas, why not book a session with me?
It's been a while since I last wrote on here. Lots going on and children both at home from as early as mid June. This, last week, I have finally got my house back and one child safely delivered to University and the other child back into school routine having had a mammoth 10 weeks off. She's moaning because, she now has a cold! That's travelling on the London Underground for you!!
Anyway, quietly, in the background I have been working hard on my Photography business, growing my Brand Photography niche. I have been mentored by a wonderful photographer Gillian Devine and also worked with a business coach to help grow my own business.
I have been working with other amazing photographers both for marketing support and also for editing ideas. As you can see I haven't been slacking off! I'm still working hard on Family & Newborn sessions and looking forward to the Christmas Mini Sessions next month. I worked on the idea of a Frozen theme as I'm aware of the new Disney movie coming out. This idea came about from as early as July. Now bookings are open so go over to my Facebook page to find out more and availability and details.
I'm working hard on promoting my Brand Photography this month. I have created a questionnaire for small business owners. If you have a moment, please could you complete the questionnaire here. There is a great prize giveaway to be announced soon.
If you are a small business, just starting out, but stuck with ideas for images to use on your social media, website or for use in your brochures, leaflets etc, I can help you. I want to provide you with some beautiful on brand images that you can use for an unlimited time which will help you save time and money and cut down the frustration of researching pictures. I had a wonderful opportunity taking pictures of Dhanisha Kapadia for her business Mummys Masala Kitchen. She has a warm and welcoming approach to her beautiful home. Her kitchen is all laid out for teaching her clients how to cook that perfect curry dish.
We had a fantastic day of prepping and later, a willing model came to help with making the dishes. My photos show just what is involved in making those delicious curries. For more information on cookery classes contact Dhanisha at Mummy's Masala Kitchen email@example.com
